Headline: 1st year soccer team go down on penalties Posted: March 31, 2011
St.Brendans Killarney vs St.Pats De La Salle Waterford In a very exciting and competive game, St. Brendans went down in penalties to a strong Waterford side. The Sem started much the stronger and scored within the first 15 minutes. Good work by Feargal O Donoghue on the wing crossed for Adam O Shea who finished superbly. St. Brendans continued to create chances however failed to capitalise on these. The second half was a different story as the Waterford side began to increaese their dominance and only for a few trmendous saves from goal keeper and "Man of the Match" Tofaeyel Ahammed, St. Brendans could have conceded earlier than they did. Eventually in the 60th and final minute, the equaliser came from a well worked move through the centre. Sem continued to work hard in extra time and the dreaded penalties was the only way to separate these well matched sides. De La Salle got the luck on the day and continue on to the Munster Semi Final. For St. Brendans it was disappointment but manager Brian Devane was very proud of his players after the game " The lads were outstanding today, I was very proud of all of them. Unfortunately we just didnt get the bit of luck that might have gotten us over the line". Great credit to all involved in a superb game.
