will re-open on the 13th. of August next...a limited number of
ecclesiastical students...can be

O’Connor, Classical Master, will receive boarders at a reasonable charge and young
boys will find his house a home...every student who is not a resident in
Killarney must board or lodge in an approved house only...”

Seventy-one students were registered in 1860. Thirty-seven of the
students were from the Killarney parish.
The
Concursus July 1861
:
Students from
St. Brendan’s took eight of the ten places in the Concursus, the
scholarship examination for admission to
Maynooth.

St.
Brendan’s students filled the first seven places. Two of the three remaining
places were taken by students from the schools of Mr. C. McCarthy and Mr.
F.McCarthy, Tralee.
